Pann of Tea –
For those of you who dosnt know yet…The “milky” taste doesn’t come from milk — it comes from the tea cultivar and the way the leaves are processed (oxidation and roasting) This one is very fresh and smooth, also it’s soft and not bitter. Thanks Pete
Tea Alchymistr (store manager) –
Most authentic Milky Oolong is made from the Jin Xuan cultivar, also known as TTES #12 (Taiwan Tea Experiment Station No. 12).
Why Jin Xuan?
This cultivar naturally produces a creamy, buttery aroma even without added flavoring. When lightly oxidized and gently roasted, it gives that signature “milky” smoothness people love.
Some producers also use other oolong cultivars and add flavoring to create a similar effect, but real, natural Milky Oolong = Jin Xuan.
