What Kind of Milk to Use?
Dairy Milk: Whole milk (full-fat) is traditional and preferred because its fat content carries the flavors of the spices beautifully and creates a luxuriously creamy texture.
Plant-Based Milks: You can absolutely make delicious chai with non-dairy milks. The best options are those that can withstand heat without curdling or separating too much.
Oat Milk: Excellent choice! It’s creamy, slightly sweet, and froths well.
Soy Milk: A classic, protein-rich alternative that works very well.
Almond Milk: Works, but can be a bit thinner. A “barista blend” will perform better.
Coconut Milk: Adds a distinct tropical sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the chai spices.
